Last Thursday, a two ball Texas Scramble was the competition of the day for the Farrington Park Ladies.

Twenty three teams took up the challenge over thirteen holes of the Duchy course on a cold overcast day. For some “new to golf “ ladies, this was their first experience of playing this format. Five two spot birdies were scored, Angela Hudd and Jackie Walker birdied the 8th hole and the rest of the two spots came from the winning teams.

Countback had to be used to separate the minor places, when three teams scored nett 51. Rosi Brown and Lena Warren had a two spot birdie at the par 3 10th hole to take third place ahead of Maureen Charlton and Pauline Young. Despite their 2 spot birdie at the par 3 8th, June Symonds and Gail Proctor finished fifth.

Corinne Durbin and Sandra Hares had a strong finish, scoring birdies at the par 3 tenth and par 5 eleventh and their final score was nett 50 and second place.

The round of the day came from the experienced pairing of Terri O’Shea and Lin Papadopoullos. Terri and Lin birdied the par 3 5th hole and had eight pars including six straight pars from holes 8 to 13 to take first place with a great score of nett 48.
