Two ladies had a reason to celebrate when the Farrington Park ladies met to play a non-qualifying Stableford competition on Thursday, 21st February.
It was Heather Woodland’s 80th birthday that day and she celebrated in style; being driven in a golf buggy, whilst sipping ‘bubbly’. Whilst doing this, she did manage to play some golf, but we are not sure about the score! On her return to the clubhouse, there were two surprises awaiting. Heather’s husband had arranged for cake and champagne to be served to all the ladies, and Captain, Pat Roscow, presented Heather with a gift of a spring flower arrangement.
And the other celebration? This came in the form of a hole in one, at the par 3 15th hole by Sue Forshaw. The ball hit the flagstick and dropped right by the hole, teetered on the edge for a few seconds and then disappeared. Sue has promised to make a donation to the Joint Captains’ Charity of the Year, Dorothy House.
After all this excitement, there was a golf competition to be decided; two spot birdies were made by Gill Russell (5th) , Sandra Hares (10th) and at the 15th, Sue’s rare “bird”, an eagle.
Division One winner was Angela Hudd, with 36 points, Jacqui Gregory was second, with 33 points, beating Fiona Hassard on countback; Pat Roscow was 4th, with 32 points, one ahead of 5th placed Clare Salter.
Sandra Hares scored 33 points to win Division Two, second place went to Lesley Stone with 31 points and third place to Sue Forshaw with 30 points.
