With weather reminiscent of the Somerset levels flooding of 2013, Head Greenkeeper, Andy Grabham, and his loyal staff are to be congratulated on their massive efforts to make the course playable after such horrendous weather conditions. Well done, guys.

A number of holes were reduced in length in order to protect the fairways, but this simply added to the intrigue in playing the course. Farrington Park Seniors’ team Bowmaker, with the best two scores to count, ensured everyone played their part.

1st: Barry Hall, Adrian Miller and Mike Astle 88 points, 2nd: Bill Sims, Leo Seddon and Richard Collier 86 points, 3rd: Alan Skivington, Bob Earney and wild card 86 points, 4th: Pearce O’Shea, Lawrence Barlow and Derek McCaig 84 points, 5th: Tony Clement, Phil Toogood and wild card 84 points. Ladies

The fun Competition for Ladies’ morning on 24th November was a 123 Bowmaker. The Ladies’ Captain, Pauline Young, thought she would reverse the format from the usual three scores to count on the par 3’s, two on the par 4’s and one on the par 5’s, which arguably favours the higher handicaps. So Pauline reversed the scoring to all three scores, had to count on the par 5’s and only one on the par 3’s.

Forty ladies entered this 123 Bowmaker with a difference, with the top two scores only being separated on count back (the better score on the last nine holes).

The winning trio were Farrington Park’s sisters, Suzanne Young, Karen Wills and Gillian Seaward, with 67 points on count back, in

second place were Mandy Hobbs, Angela Hudd and Terri O’Shea, also with 67 points, and in third place were Clare Salter, June Symonds and Jacqui Gregory with 62 points on count back.
