The Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club said a big thank you to Competition Secretary, Brian Phelps, at the end of the May medal event.

Brian, who has been involved in some capacity at the club for over forty years, has decided to relinquish the post and to concentrate on lowering his handicap. Secretary, Alan Jones, made a presentation to Brian and stressed the big contribution he has made in the successful running of the Seniors’ section over many years.

The medal event saw one of the biggest ever winning margins with 23-handicapper, Noel Chatfield, carding a gross-75 and nett-52. In second place was a recent recruit to the club, Chris Shellard, who finished eleven shots behind Chatfield with a nett-63. He beat off the challenge of Alan White, who also had a nett-63, but was beaten on count back.
