THE Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club visited Sherborne Golf Club for their last away day of the season and it proved a profitable one for Andy Flagg who won the event with an outstanding return of 46 points in a Stableford competition.
Four points behind came Alan Jones with Martyn Cuer third with 38 points. John Cooper and Mike Cole also had 38 points but were beaten on countback. Cuer was also nearest the pin with Anthony Gregory hitting the longest drive.
There were clear winners in both Division 1 and 2 of the October medal. Malcolm Emery won Division 1 by six shots after a tremendous nett score of 67. Chris Champion was second with a nett 73 while Pauline Brixey was third with a nett 74, beating the in-form Flagg on countback.
There was an identical result in Division 2 with Richard Sullivan’s nett score of 67 beating second placed Cyril Blacker by six shots. Gerry Rowell was third on 76, beating Frank Reeves and Paul Spillane on countback.
Emery’s good form continued in the Vic South Trophy. He joined up with Graham Edgell and Rob Wells to win the winter bowmaker with 74 points. However they required countback to clinch the trophy with second placed Pat Cray, Champion and Blacker and third placed Roger Parfitt, Chris Appleton and Malcolm Tucker also coming in with 74 points in a very competitive competition.
The battle for the Roger Tabb Cup saw Cuer and Phil Winsley win the winter foursomes with a nett 65. Jones and Wells were second with a nett 67 with Pete Young and Reeves a further shot behind in third place with a score of 68.
