Farrington Park Men’s and Ladies’ sections are planning their Golf Marathon to be held at the club on Monday, 27th June. Golfers are hoping to complete four rounds of golf, starting at daybreak with plenty of stops for refreshment on the way around the course.

The joint sections’ chosen charity for the year is The Rainbow Trust for Children. This charity provides emotional and practical support for families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness.

Men’s Captain, Rob Riccio and Ladies’ Captain, Bobby Appleby are inviting Farrington Park golfers and any visitors from other clubs to join them, to raise money for this worthwhile charity. All will be assured of a warm welcome, with the visitors’ green fee reduced for the whole day as encouragement. To enter, please contact Rob Riccio on: 07721 926806 or: 01761 451596.

Seniors

The wind was howling, the rain was falling and the sky was dull and overcast.

Welcome to June in the United Kingdom. None of this, of course, affected the winner of the Diamond Jubilee Cup.

Following the sad closure of Frome Golf Club last year, a number of their members joined Farrington Park Senior Section. One of them, Ham

Ridene, with an impressive net 68, is now the proud holder of this prestigious trophy. It was first played for in 2012, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne and is now an annual fixture for the seniors. Results – Division One: Steve Symonds 70, Paul Thomas 71, Rob Thain 72.

Division Two: Ham Ridene, 68, Winner of Diamond Jubilee Cup, Rick Clarke, 70, Steve Ball, 72. Division Three: Richard Collier, 69, Peter Maule, 72, Alan Bishop, 72.

Farrington Park Seniors had a fine win away from home to Orchardleigh, winning by 3½ games to 2½. Minchinhampton were the guests at Farrington Park and were treated to a sound thrashing, only halving one game from the six played. Making the trip to Wells, Farrington were quickly stopped dead in their tracks with a heavy defeat, losing four of the seven matches and only halving the remaining three.
