As this Covid-19-shortened golfing season draws to a close, only three competitions remain for the Farrington Park Ladies in 2020; the first being the Committee Cup, a Pairs’ Four Ball Better Ball off a 90% handicap.
Twenty pairs entered the competition on a sunny but cold, windy Thursday.
There were two-spot birdies on various holes from Wendy Butt, tenth, Mandy Hobbs and Dawn Stacey, fifteenth.
Scoring from the teams was very good, despite the unseasonably cold weather; seven teams scored over thirty-seven points, being the requisite number required to play to par.
Usually a score of forty, forty-one or forty-two points secures victory, but this year it wasn’t enough, much to the disappointment of three teams.
June Symonds and Hayley Bullock secured second place with forty-four points, one point ahead of third placed Sandra Hares and Corinne Durbin.
Rookies, Jackie Willcox and Sue Skyrme, who has made great progress with her golf in recent weeks, were the winners of the Committee Cup. Sue scored birdies at the par three, fifth and fifteenth holes as part of their
amazing score of forty-seven points. Jane Ball
