THE Ladies section of Orchardleigh Golf Club held their AGM at the clubhouse attended by just over twenty members.

After the apologies were read out and the minutes of the last meeting were agreed, the Lady Captain Susan Marshall reported on her year in office. She had a fantastic year of weather with no events having to be cancelled.

She thanked everyone for the support she received from her committee members and team captains, which contributed to her successful year.

The highlight for Susan was hosting a VE Day celebration on May 8 when she raised a considerable amount towards her charity for the year The Royal British Legion.

During the year over £1000 has been raised and a cheque will be presented to the RBL at the club's Christmas lunch oh December9.

Following on were reports from the tTreasurer, handicap Ssecretary and competition secretary as well as the team captains of the Alliance (Sue Sweet) and Interclub (Sue Chalker).

In the Bristol & District Alliance League, Orchardleigh are going to be back down in division five and look forward to meeting some different clubs in the 2026 season. Whereas the Somerset Interclub League team remain in the third division. Orchardleigh Ladies did well this year in the Roger's Cup (a county team knock-out competition), getting through to the quarter finals, but were sadly knocked out by Cricket St. Thomas playing at The Mendip.

Two proposals were discussed, voted on and carried. All Thursday and Saturday medals and stablefords to be amalgamated into one competition. And the AGM and election of officers is to change to a calendar year ie. January to December starting 1st January 2027.

Susan introduced the new Lady Captain, Jan Light. Sue Sweet was voted in as Lady Vice Captain and Sonia Probert will take over the post of Competitions secretary from Ann James. All the other Officers remain the same for 2026.
