THE Jim Jeffery Putter Order of Merit event at Mendip Golf Club attracted a field of 116 players.

This is played as a ‘flag’ event with the winner being the player who progresses the farthest round the course with his handicap added to the par of the course. The winner, finishing 2 inches from the 1st hole, was Shaun Robinson.

The Ladies Past Captains enjoyed a fabulous day (holes of golf followed by a lovely meal), with the winner of the competition being Allison Rumming.

Ladies qualifying Stableford was won by Susy Rudkin with 34 points on countback from Sally Humphries. The 9-hole Stableford was won by Lesley Stone with 20 points from Nola Russell on 18 points.

The Mendip scratch team took a huge step towards retaining the league title with a 46-6 win over main challengers in Minehead.

In the absence of Vice Captain Ian, it was left to the team to try to reverse a 4 1/2 to 1 1/2 loss experienced at Taunton and Pickeridge in the first game of the friendly season.

With an autumnal chill in the air and some daunting black skies surrounding Mendip, the home team used their home advantage to great effect, resulting in a 4 1/2 to 1 1/2 win and a drawn aggregate result. With just 2 games left in the season this was an impressive performance from the team.

Tuesday afternoon saw The Mendip Seniors play their penultimate Friendly Match of the 2026 season. Godwin's "Green & White Warriors" ventured to the seaside again, this time to meet up against the Burnham & Berrow Seniors.

The Mendip Seniors took a 4.5-1.5 advantage with them and despite a strong performance from the home team, albeit a 3.5-2.5 defeat on the day, The Mendip Seniors returned home with a very satisfying 7-5 aggregate victory.
