Junior girls in golf are few and far between and it is exciting when news comes in that Mendip possibly have a very bright prospect emerging. Ellen Reakes has just turned eleven and has been playing golf for close on 18 months. With encouragement from her father, Paul Reakes, First Team Captain and Member of the Board, Ellen has been receiving coaching from Local Pro, Terry Williams and through his introduction, she was invited, last year, to join the Somerset Golf County Futures Squad. Last month she was invited to attend a selection day where she was then promoted into the County Development Squad who train at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club. We wish Ellen well and will most certainly be monitoring her progress.
