The eagerly-awaited Past Captains versus Seniors match saw a conclusive victory for the Past Captains of Wells Golf Club.
The Seniors got off to a good start, with Bill McCollum and George White beating Richard Booth and Steve Rowse.
However, the Captains responded with wins for Phil Slater and Jim Saint against Dave Hayward and Nick Carter, Adrian Lawrence and George Davis against Glyn Hallett and Chris Strickland; and Andy Williams and Derek Biggs against Peter Leverick and Len Sweales. There was late consolation for the Seniors when the match between Piers Dalby with Bill O’Callaghan and John Chillington with Stuart Mann, was halved. Peter Leverick won both the nearest the pin prizes.
The Men braved the first of what may be the start of some cold golfing conditions for the Turkey Trot Four Ball Better Ball competition. The results were: 1st, P. Kenworthy and G. Rogers, with 43 points, 2nd, M. Cundell and N. Goodwin, with 42 points (countback on the back nine) and 3rd, G. Nutt and P. Hembury, with 42 points.
There were eight two spots on the day, showing the excellent level of golf played.
