The Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club finished its season of social matches with a 4–2 away defeat to Woodspring. There were convincing 5&3 wins for the pairings of Allen Cheney and Malcolm Tucker and John Bendle and Barry Dugmore. Captain, John Appleton and Terry Button were beaten 3&2, Mike Ricketts and Frank Reeves lost 5&3 and there were 7&6 defeats for Cyril Blacker and Gerry Rowell and George Underwood and Denis White.
The season as a whole ran true to form with Fosseway boasting an impressive home record but finding it more difficult on the long away courses. At home, the side won seven matches and lost three, but failed to achieve a victory away from home, although there were two pleasing 3–3 draws at Westbury and Wincanton. It was not always easy for Appleton and his Vice-Captain, Underwood, to make up a side, but they never failed and the thanks of the members go to them both for their efforts.
