The Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club turned the tables on their friends from Cannington in the latest social match. Having lost the away fixture 5–1 earlier on, they defeated their opponents by a similar margin in the return match.
There were 5&4 wins for Cyril Blacker and Pat Cray, Martyn Cuer and Arthur Bellinger, and Reg Curtis and Bill Lester. Allen Cheney and Frank Reeves finished 4&2 winners, while Howard Nowell and Malcolm Tucker were successful by 3&1. The only defeated pairing were captain Gerry Rowell and Mike Ricketts, who ended a tight encounter one down.
In the over-75s Nine Hole competition, Jack Curtis came out on top, with a score of 17 points. Rowell was second, one point behind, nudging out Competition Secretary Brian Phelps on countback.
