The Club AGM took place on Monday 21st November with the 2022 reports being presented by the club manager Paul Deeprose and the interim board team.

The sixty-five members in attendance then approved the appointment of the new board. A huge thank you went out to Mike McKay for a brilliant year as club captain, and good luck to Mike Magrath who is set to follow in his footsteps after being appointed as our club captain for 2023.

The chosen charity for 2023 was confirmed as the Orchard Vale Trust . A special thank you went to all the volunteers that make this club so outstanding, particularly to Alan Obern as competitions secretary and Mike Metcalfe the handicap secretary.

Mike Magrath will work alongside Paul Hole (seniors’ captain) Gwyn McDonald (ladies captain) and the new juniors captain Sienna Elliott to help make 2023 a wonderful golfing year in Wells.

The Two-Man Texas Scramble was won by Philip Spring and Danny Wywroll with a nett sixty-five, closely followed by the pairs of Michael Cundill and Clive Gadd and those Stainer boys on sixty-six.

Sadly, the first ever winter Stragglers fixture against Worlebury had to be cancelled at the last minute due to bad weather but it was a commendable effort by both organisers to raise teams. We look forward to the return fixture in March.
