The Ladies Section at Wells Golf Club is celebrating being top of their division in the Bristol and District Alliance League. This means they move up to the next division after a successful season.
Gill Magrath, Ladies Captain, and Jen Jones thanked all those who took part in the team, and especially Glynis Slater, who won the trophy for the highest scoring individual in the whole of the league.
The Captains’ team took on the Junior Captain’s team led by Tom Roberts, who found a last minute substitute in eight-year-old Alfie, after his playing partner had to drop out. They fought valiantly, but lost to the Club Captain and Vice-Chairman. The adults won the Cup, donated by Clem Clements. Tom will be starting training early for his squad for next year!
Wells played their annual match against Worlebury at home. Eight 4BBB matches were keenly contested. The Captain graciously missed a short putt to halve their match against Worlebury’s Chairman, Keri Allchurch and Captain, Paul Lintern. The rest of the team did not hold back and Wells won the Salver for 2016.
