Histon deservedly took all three points back to Cambridge in a poor Paulton display.
Paulton had a bright early spell before Histon took the lead on 24 minutes when Geoff Freeman drove in from the right and hit a low curling shot past Kyle Phillips. Sam Ives brought a save from Phillips as the visitors took charge. Rovers' best chance in the early part of the second period was when Wilson shot wide on 57 minutes.
On the hour, Histon made it 2–0 as Mitchell's cross from the right was well controlled by Ayrton Bevins, who belted the ball past Phillips.
Nick Freeman should have added to the score moments later, only for Phillips to win out with a superb tackle. Then, Ryan Auger headed weakly into Phillips' hands from Freeman's cross. Bevins then got through and tried to lob Phillips, only to see the ball sail over the bar. Freeman grabbed a third on 81 minutes, cutting from the left to shoot home from the edge of the box.
