Mike Weeks and Nick Foxwell maintained their season’s unbeaten record with a 5&4 win at Wesbury, Chris Appleton and Bob Smith won 4&2 and there were 3&2 successes for acting captain Malcolm Tucker and Alan White and George Thurston and Harold Lidbitter. Cyril Blacker and Alan Locke had a much closer game before finishing one up while Graham Edgell and Frank Dance halved their match.

Fosseway put up a spirited performance at Cannington before eventually losing 4-2. Appleton and Weeks again excelled winning their encounter 6&4 and Blacker and Allen Cheney were equally impressive with a 4&2 victory. Acting captain Alan Jones and Richard Dancey just missed out finishing one down, Mike Ricketts and Frank Reeves lost 5&4, Lidbitter and Dance were beaten 5&3 and Howell Nowell and White suffered a 4&2 defeat. Despite the defeat, captain Jones praised the efforts of all his side on a boiling hot day and gave special mention to Appleton, Lidbitter, Dance and Dancey who were all playing on the course for the first time.

There was a double success for Graham Edgell in the June medal event. He produced the best gross score of 77 to win the Rod Bruce Scratch Trophy and finished second in the medal with a nett 60. He was beaten into second place by John Bendle who recorded a nett 58. Alan White was third with a nett 62.

Congratulations are due to Fosseway member Allen Cheney who won the Knowle Seniors Open by five points with an excellent return of 44 points.
