Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, a member of Keynsham swimming club, has become not only the first British woman to win an Olympic Medal in the 200m, but also secured a Silver at her second Olympic games.
Born and raised near Bath, she began her swimming career at the age of eight and certainly had plenty to celebrate, having also broken the British time record in the 200m.
It’s the second medal scooped at the Rio Games by a Team Bath swimmer. Jazz Carlin won two Silver Medals, one in the Women’s 400m Freestyle and the other in the 800m Freestyle, becoming Britain’s first double medallist in this year’s games. Both women train at the University of Bath.
