Camerton and Peasedown Croquet Club are now playing on their extensive four lawns in Peasedown St John and have started off the year in grand form. The first beginners' course has just ended (but more are being planned) and some ten new members are now honing their skills alongside other Club Members.

The Club has organised an 'improvers' course' that was well attended by players of all levels. "We are an all-inclusive Club and we provide all the training in skill and techniques that members need," said CPCC Chair Mo Boys.

In April, the Club was invited to play at Harwell in Oxfordshire in the grounds of the Science and Innovation Campus. Six players took part in a series of friendly doubles matches and came out tops! "We hope this will be a pointer to the rest of our season," said Robin Oldland, who arranged the match.

The Club want to encourage as many people to have a go at Croquet – after all, it is a game for everyone and the Club has made it even easier to try this interesting game. The Club have accredited coaches who are looking forward to introducing you to Croquet and showing you how to play this fascinating game, all equipment is provided. All you need to bring are flat soled shoes.

"If you come on any Club Day (Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 1.30 p.m. to 5 p.m.), we will have members on site who can introduce you to the game and you can begin your own tailor-made beginner's course," said Mo Boys. For more information, contact Mo on: 01225 708540.

The Club is situated behind the Peasedown Cricket Club. Set your Sat Nav to BA2 8JH: Red Post Ground, Whitebrook Lane, Bath Road, Peasedown St John, Bath. Take Whitebrook Lane, first left; the grounds are at the rear of the main clubhouse.
