MENDIP LADIES 2nds 4 BRISTOL & WEST JASPERS 1
On Saturday, in the blazing midday heat, Mendip Ladies Seconds won against Bristol & West Jaspers by four goals to one.
Mendip started with lots of possession, but Bristol scored against the run of play, with a flicked shot after a breakaway counter-attack. However, the Mendip Ladies kept pressing. After a spell of brilliant attacking play, Eva Holliwell managed to slot home an equalising goal. The score remained level until half-time.
After the break, Mendip pushed hard for more goals, earning a short corner. The routine worked well, and Connie Glover swept the ball in from the left post. More attacking play came from Player of the Match, Katie Browning, making a series of driving runs down the right.
After a period of good possession, Glover found herself well-placed to fire home again. Soon after, Kate Penn passed a straight ball to Sally Stanford, who beat her player then passed on to Glover, who slotted home to complete her hat-trick and make it a convincing 4-1 victory.
This Saturday, 21st September, the three Mendip Ladies’ sides take on their Bath Buccs counterparts in another warm-up to the League season.
