The Ladies first team were narrowly defeated 0-1 by Royal Wootton Bassett in a friendly.
Mendip created the vast majority of chances, but Bassett found the decisive finish late on. Mendip centre-back, Anna Swift, was awarded the Player of the Match vote for her consistently robust tackling and composure under pressure.
This Saturday, 19th January, the Firsts return to League action at home to Knowle (Chew Valley Leisure Centre), at 1.30 p.m.

MENDIP LADIES 2nds 1 SOUTH GLOUCESTER 3
Mendip Seconds played South Gloucester at home in a mid-season friendly. Mendip went into the first half raring to go, ready to play a great game of hockey.
The first half saw South Glos score two goals, although the score was no reflection of Mendip’s efforts.
During the second half, South Glos scored another goal, making the score 3-0. Mendip showed great determination to get back on terms, and Connie Glover slotted a lovely ball straight past the keeper to make the score 3-1.
Mendip’s Player of the Match award went to centre-back defender, Sarah Whittaker, for solid defending and great tackles. This Saturday, the Seconds are away to Keynsham at 12.30 p.m.
