It was a big day at Coleford last Saturday. It started with the home team taking on Second Division, Westhill Sports, in the Charity Cup and what a game it was. The visitors going three goals up and it was not until thirty minutes to go when the home team scored their first goal through Nick Young, then Oliver Chapman netted and with only minutes remaining, Lance Cray shot home to take the game into extra time.
At the end of the ninety minutes, Westhill had a player sent off and had to play the whole of the extra time with ten men and how they battled. With Coleford pushing forward, they got caught on the break, the visitors getting the goal to win the game with five minutes to go. Scorers for the visitors were Aaron Seviour, who scored a hat-trick, and Daniel Hucker.
After the game in front of the large crowd, the Coleford players were presented with their Premier League Winners Trophies by Brian Wells, the League's President, and Bryn Hawkins, Chairman.
In the Semi-Final of the Morland Cup, it had to have extra time to sort out the winners between Farrington Reserves and Pensford Reserves. The visitors leading 1–0 at half-time, also leading 2–1 with a few minutes of normal time remaining, Brum scored with a header to take the game into extra time. The home team managed to score two more goals to take them into the Final against Baltonsborough. Farrington other scorers were Alex Short, Brum, two and Liam Gibbs.
The Premier League saw Stoke Rovers consolidating their runners-up spot with a good win away to Mells, 2–0, scorers Lee Tadd and Ossian Gould. Interhound lost some ground after being 2–1 down away to Clutton Reserves, they had to settle in the end for a 2–2 draw, scorers Alex Docherty and Shan Corbin.
Radstock A are looking good to take the First Division title, having seven games in hand on leaders, Frome Collegians Reserves, and just nine points behind. They beat second place Temple Cloud, 2–0, at home, goals coming from Ash Boucher. Frome Collegians had a comfortable win away to High Littleton, 7–2, their goalscorers were Chris Gate, two, Jack Biddiscombe, two, James Barnes, Lewis Paulin and Matt March. Purnell Sports Reserves had a good win against Camerton, winning away, 5–0, goals coming from Keane Sims, three, Cayman Hall and Shaun Prior.
In the Second Division, Baltonsborough kept up their pressure on the top teams by going to Chilcompton Reserves and recording a 5–0 win, goals coming from Tom Edmunds, Sam Edmunds, Dean Perry, Duncan Rae and an own goal.
Chew Reserves dropped two valuable points, drawing away to Midsomer Norton, 2–2, the Norton lads are really upsetting the apple cart of late, drawing two weeks ago with another contender, Victoria, they came back from two goals down to the visitors. Chew scored through an own goal and Josh Pearce in the first half, Norton gained a well-deserved point, with both goals coming from Luke Davies.
This Friday, at Paulton Rovers ground, is the Final of the Paulton Hospital Cup between Coleford Athletic and Victoria Street. Kick-off is 11 a.m. and next Friday, it's the Dimmock. Green Cup at Shepton Mallet's ground between great rivals Stoke Rovers and Coleford, kick-off 7.30 p.m.
