Purnell Sports Netball Club celebrated the end to a magnificent season last Saturday at Purnell Cricket Club.

The evening was well attended by all Junior members of the club and trophies were awarded to every member to congratulate them all on a superb season. The club is now at capacity in all Junior age groups and there is a waiting list in operation for next season. The club continues to go from strength to strength and standards remain very high.

Congratulations and best wishes go to the five players that have made it through to Avon Satellite and County Academy final screening day on Sunday, 29th June, hopes are high that the players will be successful. Further nominations will be made for the Somerset Academy in September.

Awards were given out to Most Improved Player and Player of The Year for each team. As usual, it was tough to choose who should win each award, but the deserved winners were as follows. Most Improved Player, U-12, Maisie Thatcher, U-14 Tigers Two, Alice Mitchell, U-14 Tigers One, Eva Fox, U-16 Tigers Two, Lucy Parsons, U-16 Tigers One, Sarah Osborne. Player of the Year, U-12, Alice Parfitt, U-14 Tigers Two, Maddie Summers, U-14 Tigers One, Freya Lenihan, U-16 Tigers Two, Milly Cohen, U-16 Tigers One, Lydia Burge.

The evening was rounded off with a buffet and disco. The senior presentation will take place in a few weeks, as most of the team were away participating in their Gold D of E walk. Purnell Sports looks forward to an even better 2014/2015 season with three Senior teams and six Junior teams entering into the Somerset League.
