Paulton Rovers Reserves entertained Chilcompton United in Division Two of the MidSomerset League.

The first half started brightly with attacks either end of the pitch, Paulton having the most clear cut chances through Tyler Lane and Callum Carter. The deadlock was broken in the 22nd minute when Rover’s Lane latched on to Carters left wing cross to slot it past the keeper.

It became 2-0 when Lane’s attempted cross was kept in by the Chilcompton defence, only for it to be volleyed in by Callum Carter.

The visiting side picked themselves up and had an excellent chance to pull one back when they rattled the crossbar, nothing Paulton’s Josh Johnson could do but watch it canon back into play. HT 2-0

They soon found themselves three up, when Harrison Newman was played in by Callum Carter and his effort somehow found the back of the net.

Paulton however, went up the other end and earned themselves a penalty when Josh Ayres was brought down by the centre half. Tyler Lane stepped up and notched his second of the game, that being his 17th of the season.

Credit to Chilcompton United who gave a performance that definitely deserves a better position in the league. Man of the match was Callum Carter. D Whitfield
