This year’s Toolstation Western League Convention was a cause for double celebration amongst the supporters of Radstock Town Football Club.

The Miners picked up the First Division Hospitality award at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Plymouth, thanks to the efforts of Club stalwart, Ruth Newport, with her husband John picking up the award for photograph of the season, the night before.

John Newport, photographer at Radstock Town Football Club, received a recognition award for his winning photograph.

Radstock Town Chairman, Simon Wilkinson, said; “Of all the awards, I’m so pleased that we won the Club Hospitality award. Ruth has done a wonderful job this season and she deserves to be celebrated for what she’s done for our Club and our visitors to Southfields.

"We have always prided ourselves on being one of the most welcoming Clubs in the League and I hope this award sends a message to football fans across the First Division that you can have a very good day out at Radstock Town.

"It’s great for the Club to have Ruth and John the “Snapper” involved, they are such an important part of what we are all about and I’m so proud for them that their hard work and dedication has been recognised.”

Ruth and Simon were presented with the Hospitality award by Western League Events and Compliance Officer, Sue Merrill and League Director, Brian Rose, at the presentation on Saturday, June 10th. On Friday, June 9th, Toolstation Western League Chairman, John Pool, presented John Newport with a framed copy his award winning photograph, taken at the Miners league match with Wells City earlier this year.
