BRISTOL TELEPHONES 32 MNRFC 2nds 27
It was a match that promised to be the toughest of the season so far for Norton Seconds, who faced the challenge of toppling the unbeaten League leaders away from home.
In an even contest, Telephones took an early lead, but Robbie Fuller glided in with an instant response. The game was end-to-end, with both teams trading the lead throughout the contest. Scott Anderson, Scott Goddard and James Fuller scored from the back of strong mauls, whilst Robbie Fuller was once again unstoppable from close-range.
This set up a tense finale, and Norton trailed by four points in what was to be the final play of the game. Facing a scrum deep inside the opposition’s half, against the head, the game seemed to be slipping away.
However, Norton’s pack won the ball and drove forward. As Goddard picked the ball up, he was set to charge at the line, and the crowd held their breath. This was their moment – and then he kicked it out.
