As expected, playing down the slope with the wind behind them, Clevedon quickly got into their stride playing a fast offloading game and ran up a commanding first half lead of 37 points, having scored five tries.

As the second half progressed, the home side’s scrummage gained parity and then some dominance, this was achieved even though both first choice second rows, Fear and Goddard had left the field with injuries. At one attacking scrummage, scrum half, Schuster, pinched the ball from under his number eight’s feet to dive over to score Norton’s only points of the afternoon.

Credit must be given to the team as they battled hard all through the game, this was epitomised by flanker, Tom Clark, who was Norton’s man of the match, giving a tireless performance leading the defence putting in tackle after tackle.

The visitors scored four second half tries and although the score line was one sided, the visiting supporters agreed that the Norton team had made them work for all their points and at times, had very good attacking opportunities putting them under pressure.
