Midsomer Norton Rugby Football Club have recently launched a ladies touch rugby team to encourage more women, new and old, into the sport.

Looking to raise funds to buy the emerging team a new kit, the club are holding a coaching event at Midsomer Norton Rugby Club on Wednesday, 12th July, from 6.45pm - 8pm.

Christopher Barlow told The Journal: “We have launched a Ladies social rugby team aimed at returning and new players to engage in the sport in a fun and welcoming environment.

“The club has arranged for Bath Rugby community coach, Tom Page, to deliver a coaching session on the 12th.”

The club are hoping to raise awareness about the importance of grassroots, female sports, and the support needed within it, as well as the newly-launched Crowdfunding campaign where they are hoping to grow the team and provide new kits for all.

The club’s Crowdfunder page says: “We will be using the funds [from the Crowdfunder] to purchase two sets of playing shirts, a main and alternative strip, to wear in tournaments.

“Any additional funds raised will be used to purchase training equipment and for coaching courses for players from within the team.”
