Midsomer Norton 1sts 57 Chipping Sodbury 1sts 12

The large crowd enjoyed both the on-field entertainment and the refurbished clubhouse was well received and well used.

The Firsts welcomed Chipping Sodbury who showed much resilience in the opening minutes, however, Norton’s powerful pack were soon dominating everything upfront in accumulating over fifty points for the second weekend in a row.

Norton sit top of the league, but there are no illusions about the task ahead to remain competitive in this tough league.

Midsomer Norton Thirds 15 Keynsham Thirds 47

The Thirds hosted a friendly against Keynsham. A good turn out of players enabled Norton to constantly change the playing personnel but always having a good blend of experience and youth.

Norton’s opening try came after veteran, Tim Sheppard, retained the ball well in midfield which allowed scrum half, Greg Morgan, to sweep the ball wide for Paul Comber to score.

Norton hit back in the second half, with Adam Sinden executing a clever chip and chase to score an excellent try. Keynsham responded with a further four tries, but Norton were rewarded for all their hard work when hooker, Ronnel Tayag, touched down after an impressive forward drive. Steve Blackmore
