A RUGBY club in Cheddar is climbing Britain's three highest peaks to help fund spinal surgery for their club captain, a former paramedic and Royal Navy sailor who has waited more than six months on the NHS with no surgery date in sight.

Zac Hemborough and his teammates are raising funds for their club captain Damien Green.

Damien, a former Royal Navy sailor and paramedic of over 20 years who still works for the NHS, suffered a rugby injury that left him with a herniated disc, severe sciatica and weakness in his legs.

The club will take on the National Three Peaks Challenge on 5th-6th September, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa within 24 hours; over £500 raised so far towards a £10,000 target will help fund the private surgery Damien needs.
