Paulton Rovers 2 Yeovil Town 1

A superb move and goal four minutes from normal time saw Paulton progress to the semi final of the Somerset Premier Cup.

In the opening minutes Yeovil looked confident in their build up play which the Rovers defence coped well with. A fine move involving Leo Eglin, Dave O'Hare and Nuno Felix looked promising until Yeovil defender, Ollie Haste, cleared the danger.

Malachi Linton twice had chances for the Glover's with Paulton keeper Aaron Sainsbury saving well.

Rovers took the lead on thirty three minutes as Eglin crossed from the left, O'Hare headed on and the lively Dan McBeam fired home from fifteen yards giving keeper Will Buse no chance.

Sainsbury was alert to tip over a powerful drive from Max Dyer to round off a good first half.

On the restart Charlie Wakefield threatened as Rovers withstood pressure as Jordan Young fired over the bar.

Paulton striker Will Hailston tried to lob Buse from fully forty yards before Dan Warre came on as sub and made an immediate impact on sixty one minutes.

The Glovers were awarded what appeared to be a soft penalty as Mike Ilea was adjudged to have fouled Young and Will Dawes made no mistake from the spot.

Rovers were pushing hard and O'Hare blasted over before Ed Butcher on as sub brought a save from Buse.

However, on eighty six minutes Butcher evaded his marker, broke down the left and his low cross was turned into the net by O'Hare.

In the next attack O'Hare chased after a long ball and Buse raced out of his area handling the ball in the process to receive a red card.

Paulton moved on in the next round watched by a crowd of 310.

Paulton Rovers man of the match, chosen by Paulton Councillor Grant Johnson, went to Dan Warre who made a great impact when he came on as sub.

Paulton will play away to runaway league leaders, Sholing, next Tuesday, 21st February. Kick-off at 7.45pm, coach leaves the club at 4pm
