The 2022 Cyder Cup, was held over two days at Farringdon and Wells Golf Clubs. Chris and Michele Young of Farringdon were the overall winners with a great combined score of ninety five points.
Nicholas Holtam and Anthony Piff of Cotswold Hills GC took second place with ninety points on count back from Paul Lissenburg, Cottesmore GC, and Simon Wheeler, Sherborne GC. The leading Wells team was Cliff Hopkins and Colin Mantle with eighty five points.
Wells Ladies played for the ‘Ladies’ President’s Trophy’ and some great scores were returned. The copper division was won by Helen Thompson (nett seventy one), bronze win by Diane Ramsay (nett seventy one), silver won by Tina Davies (nett sixty nine). The overall winner with a nett sixty five was Glynis Slater.
The Seniors’ Chapman Trophy was won by a pair of Tonys with Messers Hamilton and Duffin, scoring forty six points for an impressive victory with Len Sweales, and Stephen Payne narrowly pipping Bill Marcham, and Graham Bingham, for second place on count back with forty five points.
The Senior Mens’ team had a very impressive 4-2 away win, at local rivals Mendip.
The Men’s Avalon team beat Vivary Park, B 8-6.
Warren Hamilton used all his experience to win club night, with an impressive 12-hole score of thirty two points, sneaking in in front of junior Charlie Sheppard on thirty one.
