August 31 is the first day of new WESTlocal bus timetables with a slimline 99 and the X91 becoming a six day a week service, including Saturday night.

Timetable leaflets will be available at community hubs and through the door in villages where the routes travel. If you haven’t received yours yet it could mean that we need someone just like you to distribute them on your road so please do get in touch if you can help.

We are holding a Lakeside Family Fun Day on Saturday, September 20, from 9am to 3pm . Both the X91 and the 99 serve the bus stop just outside Salt and Malt, and look out on social media for incentives for arriving by bus!

The Big Lemon plan to have an electric bus on site that you can climb on board. The Community Farm will be holding farm tours in the morning and their Big Community Squash Harvest between 12.30pm to 6.30pm. Salt and Malt will be open for business and The Pony Farm Bus will be on site showing people how food is grown on their mobile farm. Chew Valley Independent Market will be running from 9am to 12.30pm with their delicious range of food, drink and handmade items from local producers. Chew Valley Sustainable Transport are offering a range of stalls and activities from 9am to 3pm championing our two fabulous routes.

Entry is free and there will be lots of fantastic activities happening:

• Can you find all the clues on our treasure hunt to win a prize?

• Why not speak to transport officers from the West of England Combined Authority about journey planning and money saving options?

• Join a number of artists running interactive workshops: can you help build a bus out of willow and hazel, create a hand sewn a bus patch for your jeans, have a go at printing a bus journey, or take a guided virtual bus ride with mindfulness at its core?

• As active travel and public transport are such good bedfellows for staying fit and connecting with others, we are planning to have lots of physical activities on site: why not try out an electric bike, find out about a local running club, join a dance fit class or have a mini consultation with a fitness professional?

● We have some great outdoor games and activities in store too.

● There will be interactive and informative stalls themed around bus travel, nature protection and keeping fit and well whilst playing your part in decarbonising travel and enhancing your community.

● Find out the winners of the #RideAndShine competition.

September is always a great time to reset habits but sometimes we need a hand to make the change. Come and be inspired or just relax and have fun!
