On Saturday 11th February 1st Midsomer Norton B Pack Cubs will be taking part in a charity sleepover in aid of Julian House, a Bath-based charity for the homeless.

Recently, the Cubs were visited by Stephen, who works for Julian House. He taught them about the work that the charity carries out, and how they attempt to solve problems at their root in the local area.

The week before the sleepover, the Cubs, with help from their leaders, will be spending two nights designing their shelters, with warmth and comfort in mind, as well as

practicality. The only resources they will use to construct their shelters are empty cardboard boxes.

Cub Scout leader and organiser, Rachael Edge said: “It’s really important for the young people to make a positive impact in their community and learn how to be proactive in tackling issues that are on their front doorstep, as well as those a long way away. If all that can be done while they are having fun, then it makes it even better!”

The Cubs aim to raise £200 for Julian House, and have been hard at work raising money through sponsorship pledges in the last few weeks. If any readers wish to support them their JustGiving page is: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bpackcubs
