OPINION is being sought on the design of a new skatepark for Frome.

Residents are invited to share their thoughts on the skatepark planned for the Mary Baily playing field.

An exhibition is being held at the Town Hall on March 13, or residents can send is their thoughts via an online survey.

A fundraising campaign and programme of events to meet the projected £400k cost is being spearheaded by Frome Skatepark Project (FSP).

Frome Town Council pledged to work with FSP to create a new skatepark at a meeting in August 2025, and undertook a tender process, culminating in the appointment of specialist contractor Maverick.

The skatepark will be in a new location alongside the existing play areas, a minimum of 70m from residential properties. Design features to mitigate noise pollution, promote safety and accessibility and incorporate spaces for relaxation and supervision of children will also be included.

Young skater Ed Bucklow a campaigner with the Frome Skatepark Project said: “We’re really excited to have got to this stage and to share the plans for the new skatepark with everyone.

“Fill in the survey or come along to the town hall on March 13 to find out more, and please donate to the fundraiser to help make it happen.”

“There is a massive impetus behind the project and a real sense of community drive to make it happen.

“This is your chance to have a say on the design and support the fundraising to create a really special space that will inspire confidence, encourage creativity and provide connection for generations to come.”
