Mystery photograph: Are they still pulling pints at this building?

CAN you guess where this week’s Mystery Photograph was taken?

Each week, the Journal invites readers to identify a historic location from days gone by.

Lynda Fisher was the first to get in touch with her guess for last week’s image. She said: “I think this photo is the farm and the Seven Stars on the left. Along North Road, Timsbury.”

Jeff Parsons wrote in: “After much discussion, with the added attraction of bacon butties, cakes and coffee, our Trinity Coffee Group came to the conclusion that the picture was taken in North Road, Timsbury with Tabor Farm on the left and in the distance, right, the Tabor Free Methodist Chapel.

“Whilst this latter building clearly shows a chimney stack in the middle of the gable end and rising above the ridge line, this has now disappeared but the outline of the former stack and flue can be seen clearly today.”

Dave Seddon also contacted us with his guess: “I think we’re back in Timsbury looking west along North Road. The two people on the left side are standing outside the ‘Seven Stars’ pub.”

While on Facebook Derek Wheeler commented: “North road, Timsbury. Tabor Farm on the left and Seven Stars in front,” and Amy Forward added: “Timsbury”.

Of course all of our readers who commented or got in touch are completely correct - no doubt this week that the photograph indeed showed Tabor Farm in Timsbury. In fact the very same photo can be found on the Timsbury Parish Council website which has a whole host of old images featuring buildings in the parish.

According to their information Tabor Farm was the oldest building on North Road and was built in the early 18th century.
