On the evening of Tuesday, 13th December, Somervale celebrated its Annual Christmas Carol Concert at St John’s Church, Midsomer Norton.

The service included readings, communal carols, voice and instrumental

performance from students aged 11–18. As usual, the church was full to overflowing. By the end, everyone went home knowing their Christmas celebrations had officially begun.

Ms Postlethwaite, Headteacher, commented: “As my first experience of the

Christmas Concert, I was completely overwhelmed with the quality and the variety of the musical performances. It was fantastic to see so many students performing, from Years 7 to 13.

“We even had a large number of members of staff perform for the students. The students were an absolute credit to the school, and I was extremely proud of every

single one of them. Indeed, the whole event is a credit to Somervale’s Music Department.”

A member of the congregation wrote to the school to say: “Please would you pass on

‘A Huge Well Done’ to the students, the Music Department and everyone who took part in the Carol Concert last night. We really enjoyed it. Lovely to see the Church

so full. Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year.”

Somer Valley FM recorded the performance for local radio, so if you were unable to attend, it will be broadcast during the Somer Valley FM Christmas Day schedule on 97.5FM, DAB and online at: www.somervalleyfm.co.uk
