A GROUP of Year 5 pupils from Welton and St John's Primary Schools have been lucky enough to travel to Athens.

Organised under the government's Turing Scheme, the children, some who have never travelled abroad, spent five days connecting with children from Marasleio School.

They took part in a range of activities such as Greek cooking and dancing, and also visited historical sites including the Acropolis and Panathenaic Stadium, home of the modern Olympic games.

Headteacher at Welton Primary School, Mr Snell, led the visit and said: “It was wonderful to see the children from our schools connecting and making new friends with children in Greece. I was so impressed with their courage and willingness to embrace a different culture.

“I know this experience will live long in their memories!”
