Over the last couple of weeks, the Men’s team has continued in the same (losing) vein.

The first game was in the Turnbull Cup at home to Keynsham in a four rink game where three rinks were very close and one rink lost very heavily giving an overall defeat by 100 shots to 55.

This week, the men have played two games. The first of these was at Paulton in an MSL game where we did manage to pick up two points, although we lost overall. The second game was at Knowle, playing against Knowle B as opposed to Knowle C, whom we lost to recently. This was a much better performance and at one stage all three of Prattens’ rinks were winning and one of them had a substantial lead. I think that we must have wilted in the heat as all three rinks started to drop shots and at the end only one rink was still leading. We lost by 45 shots to 48, which is the closest result that the men’s team have had so far this season – let us hope that it is a harbinger for future more successful results.

The ladies team have been on a winning run. They won in the second round of the Southey Cup at Chew Stoke by a score of 67–48, following this up with a Fear Cup win at home to Frome Park by 69–40 and a friendly against Norwest winning by a margin of 57–39. The next round of the Fear Cup is against Paulton on Friday, 23rd July. Please keep it up Ladies, as it is so nice to have something genuinely positive to report!

On Sunday, the Mixed team played rinks game over 15 ends at Trowbridge Westbourne (although a break was required after ten ends due to the heat – sounds more like cricket). It was an enjoyable game played in a good friendly way and Prattens won on three rinks and lost on one, winning overall by 58 shots to 44 (it must be having Ladies in the team that lead to gaining a win).

This week, both the Ladies and the Men’s teams are to play at Purnell before the Fear Cup game already mentioned and a Men’s game at home to Bath C on Saturday. The week will then be completed by a mixed game at home to Ashcombe Park on Sunday.
