On Friday, the Fish and Chip Skittles saw the clubhouse buzzing, and it was nice to see lots of non-skittlers turn up for a few drinks and a chat.
Unfortunately, Josh, our sticker-up was unwell, so thanks go to all who stood in for him with the sticking up and best wishes to Josh for a speedy recovery. Josh is also a member of our skittles team, and his absence left us a player short, so we have to thank Chloe, my nine-year-old granddaughter, for stepping into the breach. Chloe, who had never played skittles before, did very well, scoring thirty, and she very nearly beat me, something which I’m sure I would never have lived down!
We also have to thank Chloe, who came along on Saturday evening to the Beetle Drive and proved invaluable in making coffee, glass washing and generally being helpful. It was a really good evening, with dice flying all over the place and lots of laughter. When the beetles had scuttled off and the dice were collected up and put away, we enjoyed a superb American
supper supplied by our players. Thanks to all who supplied food, raffle prizes or helped behind the bar, but mostly, thanks to Mary who organised the evening.
Do you realise it’s now just over ten weeks until the start of the 2017 season? How time flies. This year, the season will kick off with our Open Evenings on April 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th, when we will be pleased to welcome along anyone who would like to have a go at bowling. I’ll be giving you more information about this later, but if anyone would like more information now, just give me a ring on: 01761 479310 or have a look at our website: www.norwestbowlsclub.co.uk
