With the new indoor season a month old, Purnell Indoor Bowls Club’s weekly League season is in full swing, and the club is buzzing with the competitive-but-friendly nature of the matches.

As well as the normal weekly League programme, the club is competing in a number of National and County Competitions. The first of which was the National Top Club Competition for mixed teams, playing Ladies’ and Men’s two-wood singles, mixed pairs, triples and fours. The team travelled to Nailsea last Sunday, and had a resounding victory in four disciplines and drawing the fifth, winning by fourteen points to two.

Once again, we have welcomed new members to indoor bowls, but there is plenty of opportunity for either novices to the sport, when our coaches are only too willing to be of assistance, or for outdoor bowlers who have not experienced the joys of indoor bowls. Not only does it provide gentle exercise, but helps to pass the winter months away in a pleasant, friendly atmosphere.

So, if you are looking for another activity, rather than spending hours sitting in a chair watching the television, come and give it a try. Don’t feel embarrassed about giving it a go, as we hold special sessions for new members, and remember – you get free membership for your first year.
