The Men’s Avalon A Team visited Mendip Spring, but unfortunately suffered a heavy loss. However, the B Team enjoyed better fortunes. Home to Burnham and Berrow, they won 4–1, with wins for Will Waddington/Jack Hayes, Martin Honeybun/Rich Clifford, Duncan Offer/Robert Ware and Terry Scriven/Richard Gumbleton.

They then entertained Wedmore and recorded a further success, this time 3½–1½. With four wins on the bounce, they are only four points off the top of the League.

The Ladies held their annual Invitation Day and attracted a good entry. The winning pairing was Allison Rumming and her partner, from Orchardleigh, with 54 points, one point ahead of Chris Olds and her partner, also from Orchardleigh. In third place was Nichola Croft and her partner from Enmore.

The Ladies Inter Club visited Orchardleigh and after a close battle, lost 3–4. Wins for Mendip came from Hilary Rowdon and Chris Williams, with halves from Diane Stanton and Margaret Hawker.

The Seniors entertained Burnham and Berrow and recorded an excellent 4–3 win over these always tough opponents. Winning pairs were Seniors’ Vice-Captain, Andy Frampton/Bryan Lewis, Martin Lambert/John Brooksbank, Chris Bryant/Andy Griffiths and Nick Inskip/Colin Davies. Next up, the Seniors visited Bath, but this time went down 2–4. Wins were recorded by Michael Gardiner/Alan Edwards and Dick Ransley/David Pilbeam.

The Seniors’ Invitation Day saw 34 members and their guests competing and it was great to see Seniors’ Captain, Henry Banks, playing, less than three weeks after heart surgery. There was some excellent golf played and the wining scores need to be noted by the Comps and Handicap Committee! Winning with 47 points were Andy Griffiths playing with ex-Mendip member, Brett Halling-Brown and in second place, Tony Taylor, playing with R. Callow fromWest Wilts, who scored 46 points.
