It was lovely to see so many ladies at Wells Golf Club’s Spring Meeting which was a Step Aside Scramble.
Everyone enjoyed the format and didn’t find it too challenging working out which ball to take and which marker to give back to whom after the end of each shot!
The gross scores ranged from 83 to 102, but it was the all-important 1/3 of combined handicaps that made all the difference for the nett scores.
First team: Janice White, Christine Jukes, Jan Hayward, Gross 93, Nett 50.33.
Second team: Philippa Gowen, Marilyn Cole, Anne Coulton, Gross 87, Nett 51.67.
Third team: Glynis Slater, Katrina Foote, Jennifer Ead, Gross 83, Nett 55.67.

Despite extremely benign conditions, all ninety players found conditions rather tough with no one breaking par of seventy for the Men’s Tweedale Medal. The back nine was a particular struggle for many.
There were eight twos: Sam de Gregorio, Nigel Pring, Trev Jones, Steve Guy, Baden Wilkinson, Bob Hegarty and Kelvin Parson (2).
Division One: 1st Ron Gay nett 71, 2nd Gary Nutt nett 72, 3rd Malcolm Terry nett 72, 4th Darren Barnett nett 73.
Division 2: 1st Paul Cox nett 71; 2nd Bob Hegarty nett 71; 3rd Richard Sheard nett 71; 4th Cliff Hopkins nett 73.
