There was a familiar look to the leaderboard when members of the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club competed for the Don Shearn Trophy recently.

In form players, Martyn Cuer and Mike Ricketts, dominated the event, with Cuer winning the individual Stableford competition with 44 points and Ricketts one point behind.

Members were pleased to see Secretary, Ray Lake, back in action after a long playing absence and he was just one point further back, on 42 points. Don Shearn’s widow, Edna, was in attendance to present the Cup to the winner.

A Pairs Medal round with a combined score of 131 was enough to win the Fouracres Cup for John Bendle and Malcolm Tucker. They finished three shots clear of skipper, Gerry Rowell and Howard Nowell, with Alan Jones and Bill Lester, third, on 136.

Cuer was again at the forefront in the July Medal competition, but he needed countback to secure his first place. All of the top three players came in with a nett score of 64, with Cuer beating off the challenge of second placed Nick Foxwell and Lester.
