The start of November and the golf course had a definite autumnal feel about it. A cold start, but as the forecasters had correctly predicted, the day turned into a much more pleasant affair.
Waiting for the results to come in, the captain tried out his warm up routine on his unsuspecting audience. The overwhelming verdict: don’t give up your day job just yet!
Farrington Park Men’s Section held their AGM last week. Outgoing Captain Rob Riccio thanked his committee for all their help over his two-year term. He wished “all the best” to incoming Captain, Shane Phelps, and his Vice-Captain, Gary Prater, for their coming year.
Rob was pleased to announce that £7,000 had been raised for his chosen charity, Prostate Cancer UK, this year. He thanked everybody for their support.
With the course playing long, there was a tie at the top of Division One, with Phil Thompson continuing his good form with 39 points, beating Andy Nicholls into second on count-back, with Paul Thomas in third on 37 points.
In Division Two, Alistair Huckle came first with an outstanding 41 points, followed in second place by John Flitter on 36 points, beating Paul Smith into third on count back.
On Sunday, a good round was had from Dave Jones in Division One with forty points, followed by Craig Adams on 37 points and Jamie Lake, third, on 36 points.
In Division Two, Neil Morgan with 37 points was the clear winner, with Paul Jones in second on 31 points, beating Charlie Holmes into third on count back.
