Farrington Park Ladies’ team had a great win in the semi-final of the Rogers Cup on Sunday, 18th August. This is a Somerset County knockout matchplay competition played by teams of seven, each lady playing a singles match against her opponent.
Twenty Somerset golf clubs entered this year, and each match was played on a neutral course. Farrington won 5-2 against Weston-super-Mare at Enmore Golf Course in some very close matches on a mainly dry and warm afternoon, although there were a few short rain showers around just to make life difficult at times.
The Farrington players ranged in age from their teens to their sixties, showcasing that golf is a great sport for all age groups and abilities to play together. The other Semi-Final between Bath and The Mendip was played on the Saturday at Farrington Park. The winners, The Mendip, will be playing against Farrington Park in the Final, on Sunday, 1st September at Mendip Spring Golf Club.
