The Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club held a very special July medal competition in memory of a very popular member who died recently.
Players were competing for the Nick Foxwell Memorial Trophy which was kindly donated by Allen Cheney. Nick’s widow Nat came along to present the trophy to Cyril Blacker (pictured). Cyril headed the field with a nett 62 beating George Thurston on countback. In third place came Martyn Cuer with a nett 63. All the entry money, which came to £147, will be donated to Dorothy House.
In the recent social match the Seniors put in another impressive performance beating Folke at home 6-0. Captain Frank Dance and Chris Appleton and John Bendle partnered by Malcolm Tucker both won their matches 7&6. Phil Winsley and Mike Weeks came out on top 4&3, Noel Chatfield and Gerry Rowell triumphed 3&1 while Blacker and Cuer were 2&1 victors. Alan White and Howard Nowell finished one up.
