Thirty-nine Mendip Ladies competed in a 9-hole Waltzing Matilda event.

34 points was good enough to register a win for Lulu Carolan, Cora Pavey and Margaret Allen.

Second place with 30 points went to Allison Rumming, June Page and Anne Hopkins.

Third place with 29 points went to Andrea Williams, Anita Butcher and Margaret Hawker, one shot ahead of Bron Cooper, Jan Fukuyama and Edwina Willis, who in turn were one shot ahead of Mary Ainsworth, Carol Mosley and Elaine Richardson, who secured fifth position on count back.

Two Pro Shop Nearest the Pin Competitions saw a win for Jonathan Beech, with Oliver Saunder coming in second and John Ellis, third and a win for Tom Lowe with Phil Bendall second and again, John Ellis, third.

The Pro Shop Better Ball event was a very close-run affair, with Stephan Golledge and Josh Seviour winning with 46 points, but only on count back from Sam Thatcher and Peter Grafton, Andy Walton and Shaun Robertson securing third place with 44 points, again after count back.

The following weekend, the Pro Shop Singles event had to be split over two days as the conditions were so different between Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday saw a win for Scott Butland with 42 points on count back from Jack Hayes. Andy Griffiths was third with 38 and John Harvey fourth with 37 on count back from Mike Lill.

Sunday’s event went to Craig Richardson with 39 points and his son, Thomas came second with 37 and Phil Bendall third with 36. Susy Rudkin won the Ladies Prize.
