SEVENTY-ONE competitors took part in the last of the Turkey Trot events - the Singles - at Mendip Golf Club.
The winner of Div 1 was Jake Russell with 37 points, beating Rob Edney on count back with Jack Hayes being 3rd with 36 on count back from Martin Stephens. Div 2 went to James Richards with 37 points after another count back from Colin Wiltshire and David Golledge and Div 3 was won by Andrew Robinson, with the best score of the day of 41, with Kelvin Adams 2nd with 38 while William Burns was 3rd with 34.
Fifty-four Ladies competed in the 3 Clubs and a Putter event at Mendip which saw an overall win for Jenny Ahlberg playing off 12 for the 9 hole event who carded an amazing 24 points; who needs 14 clubs? Div 1 was won by Corinne Durbin with 17 points after count back from Jenny Merrett with Rosemary Brown 3rd with 15 points after a triple count back.
Div 2 went to Gina Howard with 19 points, June Page was 2nd with 18 and Annette Jobbins was 3rd with 16. And Div 3 saw a win for Min Woodward with 17 points, while Maggie Brain was 2nd with 16 and Bridget Rylance was 3rd with 14 - again after a triple tie.
At the recent Somerset County Ladies Golf annual general meeting, Susie Howe collected the County Grass Roots Trophy. Aimee Sawyer also collected the Runners Up Salver and Scratch Cup from the County Championships, then the Holt Shield being part of Mendip’s winning team at the County Championships, her two fellow members being Connie Cox and Libbie Dezis, and finally she collected the Cairns Cup for the Best Gross Score at the Handicap Championships.
