The Annual Presentation night at Mendip Golf Club was a huge success, with a full clubhouse of winners supported by family and friends.

Director of Golf Stuart Disney and Captains’ Committee Chairman, Nola Russell, organised an excellent evening as the succession of winners collected their trophies with proceedings nicely rounded off by the provision of some food from Steve and his team.

The nearest the Pin this week went to club champion, Tom Small, to add to his collection of trophies from presentation night.

One hundred and two men competed in the Turkey Trot three person Bowmaker event. Apart from the winners, scoring was very close with only two points separating second from seventh. In fifth place with 74 points after a quadruple tie came the ever reliable team of Brian Smith, Eric Jordan and John Hargraves. In fourth were Tom Small, Dan Brewin and Baden Wilkinson with Steve Rawlings, Chris Lindley and Wayne Spencer third. Second place went to Danny Middle, Alan O’Leary and Jordan Vaughan leaving Colin Wiltshire, Trevor Messenger and Simon

Jefferies clear winners with 79 points.

Forty-four ladies took part in a 9 hole Stableford event. Division 3 was won by Louise Scott with a fine 21 points with Gina Howard second with 19 and Pauline Williams third with 18. Division 2 saw a win for Margaret Allen with 15 points, Mary Ainsworth was second with 14 after countback from Alison Kay. Division 1 saw a win for the Alliance A team captain, Marian Speed with 18 points after count back from Jean Padfield with Edwina Willis third with 17 points.

A dozen couples played in a Friendly Mixed event which was mixed in more ways than one! Some pairings played off the Red Tees and some off the Blue! So prizes were awarded to Ann and Derek Padley who scored 46 points off the Reds and to Alan and Alison Kay who also scored 46 points but off the blues.

And finally a correction to the results published last week of the Seniors Turkey Trot event. Five players covering positions 2 – 7 finished on 36 points and Nigel Brokenshire was omitted whereas he actually finished fifth.

Although we are now well into winter, Stuart Disney’s professional team remain extremely busy.

James Taylor is now well and truly established as the Pro Shop Manager with young Sam Scriven a key part of the team and as recently reported now commencing his professional’s training programme.

The team is completed by Alex Todd who has fitted so well into the Mendip Pro Team and is still at this time of year busy with lessons.
